In the given figure the capacitors C(1),...

In the given figure the capacitors `C_(1), C_(3), C_(4),C_(5)` have a capaciance `4 muF` each if the capaitor `C_(2)` has a capacitance `10 muF`, then effective capacitance between `A` and `B` will be

A

`8muF`

B

`6muF`

C

`2.5muF`

D

`4muF`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Let, `C_(1)=C_(3)=C_(4)=C_(5)=C`
The given circuit is Wheatstone's bridge of condensers. The bridge is balanced. Thus, effective capacitacnce between path ACB is,
`C_(s1)=(C C)/(C+C)=C/2`
Similarly effective capacitance between path ADB is, `C_(s2)=(C C)/(C+C)=C/2`
Now, `C_(s1) and C_(s2)` are in parallel.
Therefore, `C_(p)=C//2+C//2=C=4muF`
