A current I is flowing througha straight conductor PQ shown in the figure. A circular loop of metal wire is placed as shown and is coplanar. If the current in the wire is reduced to zero value, there will be

A

no induced current in the loop

B

clockwise current in the loop

C

anticlockwise induced current

D

initially anticlockwise and then clockwise induced currents in the coil

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

The current through wire PQ is reduced, the magnetic flux through the coil also decreases. Its direction is upward and towards you. Induced current will flow so as to maintain this flux towards you. Hence, induced current will be anticlockwise.
