Half of a cuboidal water tank with length of 2· 1 m and breadth of 1·5 m is filled with water. If 630 litres water is poured more into the tank, then calculate the depth of water that will be increased by.

The length of the tank = 2.1 m = 21 dcm. breadth = 1·5 metres 15 dcm. Water poured into the tank = 630 litres = 630 cubic-dcm.
Let the depth of water of the tank after pouring water to it be increased by x dcm.
`therefore 21 xx 15 xx = 630 ` or , the `x=(630)/(21 xx 15) =2 `
Hence the depth of water of the tank will be increased by 2 dcm.
