Prove that sqrt((1+cos30^(@))/(1-cos30^...

Prove that `sqrt((1+cos30^(@))/(1-cos30^(@)))=sec 60^(@)+tan60^(@)`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`LHS=sqrt((1+cos30^(@))/(1-cos30^(@)))=sqrt((1+(sqrt(3))/(2))/(1-(sqrt(3))/(2)))=sqrt(((2+sqrt(3))/(2))/((2-sqrt(3))/(2)))=sqrt((2+sqrt(3))/(2-sqrt(3)))`
`=sqrt(((2+sqrt(3))(2+sqrt(3)))/((2-sqrt(3))(2+sqrt(3))))=sqrt(((2+sqrt(3))^(2))/(4-3))=sqrt((2+sqrt(3))^(2))=2+sqrt(3)`
`RHS=sec60^(@)+tan60^(@)`
`=2+sqrt(3)`
`therefore LHS=RHS`. [Proved]
