A truck starts from rest and rolls down a hill with a constant acceleration. It travels a distance of 400m is 20s. Find its acceleration. Also find the force acting on it if its mass is 7000 kg.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Give: Initial velocity `(u)=0 ms^(-1)`
Distance travelled `(s)=400m`
Time `(t)=20s`
mass of truck `(m)=7000kg`
To find: Acceleration `(a)=?`
Force `(F)=?`
Formulae: (i) `s=ut+1/2at^(2)`
(ii) `F=ma`
Solution: (i) `s=ut+1/2at^(2)`
`400=0xx20+1/2axx(20^(2))`
`400=(400a)/2`
`:.a=(400x2)/400=2m//s^(2)`
(ii) `F=ma`
`:.F=7000xx2`
`:.F=14000N`
The truck moes with acceleration of `2m//s^(2)` and the force acting on its is 14000N
