An object takes 5s to reach the ground from a height of 5m on a planet. What is the value of g on the planet?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given: Displacement (s) `=5m`
Time `(t)=5s`
Initial velocity `(u)=0m//s`
To find: Gravitational acceleration `(g)=?`
Formula: `s=ut+1/2"gt"^(2)`
Solution: `5=0+1/2xxgxx5^(2)`
`5=gxx25/2`
`(5xx2)/25=g`
`g=2/5`
`=g=0.4m//s^(2)`
Value of g on the planet is `0.4m//s^(2)`
