(i) Concentrated sulphuring acid `(H_(2)SO_(4))` is a hazardous, highly corrosive chemical. It has a higher density than water and is hygroscopic, which means that it absorbs water from the air.
(ii) In the process of dilution of concentrated sulphurinc acid with water, very large amount of heat is liberated.
(iii) As result, water gets evaporated instantaneously along with splashing of acid which may cause an accident.
(iv) To avoid this, required amount of water is taking in a glass container and small quantity of concentrated sulphuric acid at a time is added with stirring.
(v) Therefore, only a small amount of heat is liberated at a time.
