Balance the equation stepwise.
`H_(2)S_(2)O_(7(l))+ H_(2)O_((l))ot H_(2)SO_(4(l))`

Text Solution

Step 1: Write the equation and then count the number of aoms of each element on the R.H.S. and L.H.S. of the arrow.
`H_(2)S_(2)O_(7)+H_(2)Oto H_(2)SO_(4)………….(1)`

Step 2: Check whether no. of atoms on both sides is equal. It is seen from the above table number of atoms of all the elements on the two sides are not the same.
Step 3: To balance the number of atoms on both sides, we write confficient 2 for `H_(2)SO_(4).`
Now the equation becomes.
`H_(2)SO_(2)O_(7(l))+H_(2) O_((l))to 2H_(2)SO_(4(l))............(2)`
Now see that the number of atoms of each element are equal on both side.

Hence the equation (2) is balanced equation.
