Give reasons for the following. Sodium and potassium are stored in kerosene.

(i) Sodium is highly reactive metal.
(ii). It react with the oxygen and moisture present in the air to form sodium hydroxide and hydrogen gas.
(iii) Hydrogen which is released, catches fir in presence of oxygen due to liberation of heat during this reaction.
(iv) Sodium does not react with kerosene and hence, it sinks in it.
(v) Thus, to prevent sodium form coming in contact with air, it is immersed in kerosene.
