(ii) They are used to control human and animal diseases.
(iii) Antibiotics like penicillin , cephalosporins, erythromycin , gentamycin , neomycin , tetracyclins, etc. are used against various strains of gram positive and gram negative bacteria .
(iv) Example : Rifamycin is effective against tuberculosis.
