Assertion : Molar entropy of vaporization of water is different from ethanol.
Reason : Water is more polar than ethanol.

A

If both the assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

B

If both the assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

C

If the assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If assertion is false but reason is true.

The correct Answer is:
B

The molar entropy of vaporization of water is different from enthanol due to hydrogen bonding. According to VSERP theory water molecule hastwo lone pairs of electronsand has angular shape and show some polarity which is higher than that of ethanol. So both assertion and reason are correct but reason is not the expanation of assertion.
