In the meter bridge experiment, a student observes a balance point at the point at the point J, where AJ=l. The value of R and X are both doubled and then interchanged. What will be the new position of balance point. If in this set up, the galavanometer and battery are interchange at the balance point position, how will the balance point get affected?

`R/X = l/((100-l))`....(i)
When R = 2 R and X = 2 X are connected , let the balance point be at `J_(1)`, where `AJ_(1)=l'`
Then `(2X)/(2R) = (l')/((100-l')) or R/X = (100-l')/(l')`....(ii)
From (i) and (ii), `l/(100-l') = (100-l')/(l')`
On solving, we get `l' = 100 - l`
When galavanometer and battery are interchanged, there is no change in the balance point position.
