How can you make a potentiometer of given wire length more sensitive using a resistance box?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The sensitivity of a potentiometer is the smallest potential difference it can measure. It can be increased by reducing the potential gradient, i.e., potential drop per unit length of potentiometer wire. The same is possible by decreasing the current flowing in the potentiometer wire, which in turn can be achieved by using more resistance from resistance from resistance box in series with the potentiometer wire.
