What amount of heat is to be transferred to nitrogen in an isobaric heating process so that the gas may perform 2 J work?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

By the first law of thermodynamics `Q = Delta U + A`
But `Delta U = (p Delta V)/(gamma - 1) = (A)/(gamma - 1)` (as `p` is constant)
`Q = (A)/(gamma - 1)+ A = (gamma.A)/(gamma - 1) = (1.4)/(1.4 - 1) xx 2 = 7 J`.
