Find the molar mass and the number of degrees of freedom of molecules in a gas if its heat capacities are `C_(v) = 650 J kg^(-1) K^(-1)` and `C_(P) = 910 J kg^(-1) K^(-1)`

Text Solution

Given specific heats `c_p , c_v` (per units mass)
`M(c_p - c_v) = R` or, `M = ( R)/(c_p - c_v)`
Also `gamma = (c_p)/(c_v) = (2)/(1) = R` or `M = (R)/(c_p - c_v)`
Also `gamma = (c_p)/(c_v) = (2)/(i) + 1, os, i = (2)/((c_p)/(c_v)) = (2 c_v)/(c_p - c_v)`.
