Find the total linear momentum of the el...

Find the total linear momentum of the electrons in a conductor of length `l = 1000m` carrying a current `I = 70A`.

Text Solution

Let, `n_(0)` be the total number of electrons then, total number of electrons then, total momentum of electrons,
`p = n_(0) m_(e) v_(d)`.....(1)
Now, `I = rho S_(A) v_(d) = (n_(0) e)/(V) S_(x) v_(d) = ("ne")/(l) v_(d)` ....(2)
Here, `S_(x)` = Cross sectional area, `rho` = electron charge density, `V` = volume of sample From (1) and (2)
`P = (m_(e))/(e) Il = 0.40 mu Ns`
