Does a solid metallic sphere retain more charge than a hollow sphere of the same diameter?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A solid sphere does not retain more charge than a hollow sphere of the same diameter, because charge resides on the outer surface of a conductor, and outer surface areas of the two spheres are equal.
