A series LCR circuit with L=0.12H, C=480nF, R=23`Omega` is connected to a 230V variable frequency supply.
What is the source frequency for which current amplitude is maximum. Obtain this maximum value.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The current amplitude and average absorbed power both are maximum at the resonant frequency.
`f_0=1/(2pisqrt(LC))=1/(2times3.14sqrt(0.12times480times10^-9))`
=663 Hz
The current amplitude is maximum when the source frequency is 663 Hz.
`I_(max)=V_(max)/R=(230sqrt2)/23=14.14A`
