Find the value of the phase difference between the current and the voltage in the series LCR circuit shown below. Which one leads in phase:current or voltage?

Given, `V=V_0sin(1000t+phi),R=400Omega,C=2muF,L=300mH`
The standard equation is given by ,
`V=V_0sin(omegat+phi)`
`therefore omega=1000 Hz`
Now, `X_L=omegaL=1000times100times10^-3=10^2=100Omega`
and `X_C=1/(omegaC)=1/(1000times2times10^-6)=500Omega`
Phase difference between the current and the voltage in the series LCR circuit is given by,
`phi=tan^-1((X_C-X_L)/R)`
or,`phi=tan^-1((500-100)/400)=tan^-1 1`
`thereforephi=45^@`
Since, `X_CgtX_L`, therefore current leads in phase.
