Molisch's test is used for detection of carbohydrates. Add two drops of alcoholic soluton of `alpha`-napthol to the carbohydrate solution under study.add conc,`H_(2)SO_(4)` slowly by the side of the test tube. A violet ring is formed at the junction of the two liquids, If carbohydrates is present.
