Assertion : `Be SO_(4)` and `MgSO_(4)` are soluble in water.
Reason : `BaSO_(4)` is water insoluble because lattice energy of `BaSO_(4)` is higher than its hydration energy.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If assertion is false but reason is true.

The correct Answer is:
b

`BeSO_(4)` and `MgSO_(4)` are readily soluble in water , the solubility decreases form `CaSO_(4) ` to `BaSO+_(4)`. The greater hydration enthalpies of `Be^(2+)` to `Mg^(2+)` ions overcome the lattice enthalpy factor and therefore their sulphates are soluble in water.
