In what ratio by mass carbon monoxide and nitrogen should be mixed so that partial pressure exerted by each gas is same ?

A

`1:1`

B

`1:2`

C

`2:1`

D

`3:4`

The correct Answer is:
A

CO= `w_(1)"g"= (w_(1))/(28)` mol
`N_(2)=w_(2) "g" =(w_(2))/(28)` mol
`P_(CO)=(w_(1)/(28))/(w_(1)/(28)+w_(2)/(28))=(w_(1))/(w_(1)+w_(2))`
Similarly `P_(N_(2))=(w_(2))/(w_(1)+w_(2))`
As `P=P_(2)`
Hence `w_(1)=w_(2) i.e, w_(1) : w_(2)= 1: 1`
