A ray of light suffers minimum deviation, while passing through a prism of refractive index `1.5` and refracting angle `60^@`. Calculate the angle of deviation and angle in incidence.

A

`35.5 ^(@)`

B

`40.8 ^(@)`

C

`48.6 ^(@)`

D

`53.5 ^(@)`

The correct Answer is:
C

When the ray suffers minimum deviation in a prism .
`r = (A)/(2) = 30^(@)`
`because n = (sin i)/(sin r)`
`therefore 1.5 = (sin i)/(sin 30^(@)) therefore sin i= 1.5 xx (1)/(2) = 0.75`
`therefore i= sin^(-1) (0.75) = 48.6^(@)`
