Four convergent lenses have focal length...

Four convergent lenses have focal lengths `100cm, 10cm, 4cm` and `0.3cm`. For a telescope with maximum possible magnification, we choose the lenses of focal lengths

A

100 cm, 0.3 cm

B

100 cm , 10 cm

C

10 cm, 4 cm

D

100 cm, 4 cm

The correct Answer is:
A

For telescope with maximum magnifying power, `(f_(o))/(f_(e))` should be maximum. For this `f_(o)` should be maximum and `f_(e)` should be minimum.
This is possible in the case of
`(f_(o))/(f_(e))=(100)/(0.3)=(1000)/(3)=333.3`
The other combinations give smaller mgnifications of `(10)/(0.3), (10)/(4) and (100)/(4)`.
