An ammeter has an internal resistance of...

An ammeter has an internal resistance of` 50 Omega` when it is connected in a circuit containing a battery and twio resistance of `300 Omega` and `200 Omega `in series, it reads 1.2 . The actual current in the circuit, will be

A

`1.2 A`

B

less than 1.2 A

C

more than 1.2 A

D

`10 A`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

Actual current in the circuit will be 1.2A, if the ammeter is an ideal ammeter or it has zero resistance. In this case, it has a finite resistance of `50 Omega` and it is in series with `(300+200)=500Omega`.`therefore`The current shown by the ammeter i.e. 1.2 A is less than the actual current. `therefore` Actual current is more than 1.2 A. Option (d) has no meaning because the e.m.f of the battery and its internal resistance are not given.
