An ammeter and a voltmeter are j oined in series to a cell. Their readings are A and V respectively. If a resistance is now joined in parallel with the voltmeter

A

both A and V will decreases

B

A will increases and V will decreases

C

A and V will increases

D

A will increases and V will increases

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

The voltmeter has a very high resistance. If a resistance is joined in parallel with it, its resistance will be decreased and as it is in series with the ammeter, the total resistance in the circuit will decrease considerably and the current will increase. hence A will increase and V will decrease.
