Given: `Shunt S=G/8 and if 1^(th)/n` of the total current is to be passed through G, then `S=G/(n-1) therefore G/8=G/(n-1)therefore 8=n-1 therefore n=9` Since the range of the galvanometer is increased to `n=9` times, the senstivity is decreased to `1^(th)/9 or S'=S/9`.
