The correct Answer is:
A

For an electron in the hydrogen atom ,
`K= (K')/(2) (e^2)/(r ) " where " K' = (1)/(4piepsi_0)`
`P.E. = - (k'e^2)/(r ) " and Total energy " = (K'e^2)/(2r)`
When the electron jumps from an excited state to the ground state , r is decreased . Hence its K.E. is increased. But P.E. and total energy will decrease because of -ve sign, they will be more negative .
