The compound `P, Q and S`

were separtely subjected to nitration using `HNO_(3)//H_(2)SO_(4)`mixture. The major product formed in each case respectively is

A

B

C

D

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

Product is w.r.t., as `-OH` as this reaction is electrophilic substitution and `OH` group is activating

Product is w.r.t.,`-OCH`_(3) as it is more ring activating than `CH_(3)`

Rezene ring to which is attached becomes
deficient in electrons due to `-R` nature of ground. Rather to which `-O-` is attached becomes `bare` rich due to lone pair so product will be on that ring.
