Consider a car moving on a straight road with a speed of `100m//s`. The distance at which car can be stopped is `[mu_k=0.5]`

A

`800 m`

B

`1000 m`

C

`100 m`

D

`400 m`

The correct Answer is:
B

Retardation due to friction `=mug`
we know `v^(2) =u^(2) + 2as`
`:. 0 = (100)^(2) -2 (mug)s`
or `2mugs =100 xx 100`
or `s = (100xx 100)/(2xx 0.5 xx 10) =1000m` .

Consider a car moving along a straight horizontal road with a speed of 36 km/h. If the coefficient of static friction between road and tyers is 0.4, the shortest distance in which the car can be stopped is (Take g=10 m//s2)

Consider a car moving along a straight horizontal road with a speed of 72 km/h. If the coefficient of static friction between the tyres and the road is 0.5, the shortest distance in which the car can be stopped is [g=10 ms^(-1)]

A car is moving on a straight road with a speed of 20 m//s . The drive of the car put the breaks at some instant which retards the car uniformly at a rate of 2 m//s^(2) , until the car stops completely then find the time (t_(0)) taken by the car and distance (d) travelled by car, from the instant the drive put the breaks till it stops:
