Two bodies are in equilibrium when suspended in water from the arms of a balance. The mass of one body is `28 g` and its density is `5.66 g//cm^3`. If the mass of the other body is `36 g`, what is its density ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Apt wt. olf 1 st body `=m_(1)g-F_(b)=(28-(28)/(5.6))g`
Apt wt. of 2nd body `=m_(2)g-F_(b)=(36-(36)/(d)xx1)g`
`because`bodies are in equilibrium apt wts. Are equal
`(28-(28)/(5.6))g=(36-(36)/(d))g,(28-5)=36-(36)/(d)`
`rArr (36)/(d) = 36 - 23 = 13, d = (36)/(13) ~~ 2.8g//c c.`
