An artificial satelite of mass 2500 kg is orbiting around the earth with a speed of` 4 kms ^(-1)` at a distance of `10^(4)` km form the earth . The centripetal force acting on it is .

A

4 KN

B

6 kN

C

8 kN

D

2 kN

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Given , r `=10^(4)km =10^(4) xx1000m=10m,`
m=2500kg
v`=4 kms^(-1) =4xx10^(3)ms^(-1)`
Now , centripetal force is F`=(mv^(2))/(r)``F=(2500xx(4xx10^(3))^(2))/10^(7)`
`=(2500xx16xx10^(6))/10^(7)=(250xx16xx10^(7))/10^(7)`
Centripetal force ,F =4000 N =4kN
