a) The peak voltage of an AC supply is 300 V. What is the rms voltage?
b) The rms value of current in an AC circuit is 10A. What is the peak current?

A

212.1 V, 14.14 A

B

220.3 V, 15.15 A

C

16 V, 12.3 A

D

14.3 V, 16.2 A

The correct Answer is:
A, B

(i) Here, peak value of AC supply, `E_(0)=300V`
`I_(rms)`=rms value of current=10A
`therefore`Using the relation, `E_(rms)=(E_(0))/(sqrt(2))`, we get `E_(rms)=(300)/(sqrt(2))=212.1V`
(ii) let `I_(0)` be the peak value of the current
then `I_(rms)=(I_(0))/(sqrt(2))`
`thereforeI_(0)=sqrt(2)I_(rms)=1.414 xx10=14.14`
