A capacitor having the capacitance 2.5 `muF` is operating at 50 Hz frequency at a voltage of 230 V. then calculate the current flowing through the circuit.

A

181 mA

B

135 mA

C

191 mA

D

125 mA

The correct Answer is:
A

Given, `C=2.5muF=2.5xx10^(-6)F,f=50Hz,V=230V`
Capacitive reactance, `X_(C)=(1)/(2pifC)`
`=(1)/(2xx3.14xx50xx2.5xx10^(-6))`
`=(10^(6))/(785)=1.27kOmega`
Electric current, `I=(V)/(X_(C))=(230)/(1.27xx10^(3))`
`=181xx10^(-3)=181mA`
