A step-down transformer has 50 turns on secondary and 1000 turns on primary winding. If a transformer is connected to 220 V, 1A C AC source, then what is output current of the transformer ?

A

`(1)/(20)A`

B

`20 A`

C

`100 A`

D

`2A`

The correct Answer is:
B

We know that,
Power is the secondary coil=power in the primary coil
`V_(S)xxN_(p)=V_(p)xxN_(S) or (N_(S))/(N_(p))=(V_(S))/(V_(p))`
Here, `N_(S)=50` turn, `N_(p)=1000` turns,
`V_(p)=220V,V_(S)=?`
`(50)/(1000)=(V_(S))/(220)impliesV_(S)=(50xx220)/(1000)=11V`
But `V_(S)l_(S)=V_(p)l_(p) implies 11xxl_(S)=220xx1`
`l_(S)=(220)/(11)=20A`
