A capacitor 50muF is connected to a powe...

A capacitor `50muF` is connected to a power source `V220sin50t` (V in volt, t in second). The value of rms current (in ampere) is

A

`(sqrt(2))/(0.55)`

B

0.55 A

C

`sqrt(2)A`

D

`(0.55)/(sqrt(2))A`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Given, `C=50muF=50xx10^(-6)F`
`V=220sin(50t)` . .. . (i)
But we know that,
`V=V_(0)sinomegat`
But we know that,
`V=V_(0)sin omegat` . . . (ii)
On comparing both equations we get
`V_(0)=220V,omega=50rad//s`
The capacitive reactance of the circuit is given by
`X_(C)=(1)/(omegaC)=(220)/(400)=(11)/(20)=0.55A`
