Same current is flowing in two alternati...

Same current is flowing in two alternating circuits. The first circuit contains only inductances and the other contains only a capacitor, if the frequency of the e.m.f of AC is increased, the effect on the value of the current will be

A

increase in first circuit and decrease in second

B

increase in both circuits

C

decrease in both circuits

D

decrease in first circuit and increase in second

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Current corresponding to inductive circuit,
`I=(V)/(Z)=(V)/(omegaL)implies I_("inductive")prop(1)/(omega)` . .. (i)
Similarly, for capacitive circuit
`I_("capacitive")propomega` . . . (ii)
When frequency of AC is increased,
From eq. (i) `I_("inductive")` decreases
from eq. (ii) `I_("capacitive")` increases.
