If an AC main supply is given to be `220V`. What would be the average e.m.f during a positive half cycle?

A

198 V

B

386 V

C

256 V

D

None of these

The correct Answer is:
A

The given value of voltage in rms value, is
`E_(rms)=(E_(0))/(sqrt(2))`
`E_(0)=E_(rms)xxsqrt(2)=220xxsqrt(2)=311V`
The average emf during positive half cycle is given as
`E_(av)=(2E_(0))/(pi)=(2xx311)/(3.14)=198V`
