Which one of the following gases has the lowest value of Henry's law constant?

A

`N_(2)`

B

`He`

C

`H_(2)`

D

`CO_(2)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

According to Henry's law the mass of a gas dissolved per unit volume of solvent is proportional to the pressure of the gas at constant temperature m = K p i.e.as the solubility increases, value of Henry's law constant decreases. Since `CO_(2)` is most soluble in water among the given set of gases. Therefore `CO_(2)` has the lowest value of Henry's law constant.
