A resistor `R` an inductance `L` and a capacitor `C` are all connected in series with an ac supply The resistance of `R` is `16ohm` and for the given frequency the inductive reactance of `L` is `24` ohm and the capacitive reactance of `C` is `12ohm` If the current in the circuit is `5A` find
(a) the potential difference across `R,L` and `C`
(b) the impedance of the circuit
(c) the voltage of the ac supply and
(d) the phase angle .

Given `R = 16 omega ,X_(L) = 24Omega , X_(C) =12Omega , I =5A`
(a) `V_(R) = iR =5 xx 16 =80V`
`V_(L) =iX_(L) =5 xx 24 = 120V`
`V_(C) = iX_(C) = 5xx 12 =60V`
(b) `Z = sqrt(R^(2) + (X_(L) -X_(C))^(2))`
`= sqrt((16)^(2) + (24 -12)^(2))`
`20 Omega`
(c) `V =iZ =5xx 20 =100V`
`tan phi = (X_(L) -X_(C))/(R) = (24 -12)/(16) =(3)/(4)`
`phi = tan^(-1) (3/(4))` .
