Two balls with masses m(1)=3kg and m(2)=...

Two balls with masses `m_(1)=3kg` and `m_(2)=5 kg` have identical velocity `V=5 m//s` in the direction shwon in figure. They collide at origin. Find the distance of position of `C.M`. from the origin `2 sec` after the collision.

The correct Answer is:
5

`(V_(cm))_(x)=(3xx(-5 cos 37^(@))+5xx0)/(8)= -1.5 m//s`
`(V_(cm))_(y)=(3xx(-5sin 37^(@))+5xx5)/(8)=2m//s`
`vec(V_(cm))=(-1.5hat(i)+2hat(j))m//s`
`therefore` Collision at origin hence initial position of
`C.M` is `vec(r_(1))=0`
`therefore (vec(r )_(cm))_(f)=(vec(r )_(cm))_(i)+vec(V)_(cm)t= -3hat(i)+4hat(j)`
`therefore |(vec(r)_(cm))_(f)|=sqrt(9+16)=5cm`
