In short, we can say that it is a mathematical discipline that helps in collecting and summarising data. Here, we will study the definition of the statistics along with the statistics formula. What is Mathematical Statistics?

Mathematical statistics was originally conceived as the science of the state, which is the application of mathematics to Statistics. Earlier, it was used to collect and analyse facts about a country such as population, military, economy, and so on. It was used by the Mathematical techniques for linear algebra, differential equations, stochastic analysis, etc. Well, Statistics is used in a lot of different sectors such as Sociology, Psychology, weather forecasting, Geology, probability, and the list is endless. It focuses on the application to gain a good understanding of data. It is therefore also termed as a Mathematical science.
