An ammeter and a voltmeter are connected in series to a battery of emf `E=6.0V`. When a certain resistance is connected in parallel with the voltmeter, the readding of the voltmeter decreases two times, whereas the reading of the ammeter increases the same number of times. Find the voltmeter reading after the connection of the resistance.

A

2 V

B

4 V

C

3 V

D

1 V

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A

`V_A + V_V = 6`…(i)
`2 V_A + (V_V)/(2) = 6`….(ii)
`V_V = 4 V`
Reading of voltmeter `(V_V)/(2) = (4)/(2) = 2 V`.

An ammeter and a voltmeter are connected in series to a battery with an emf xi = 6.0 V . When a certain resistance is connected in parallel with the voltmeter, the readings of tgeh latter decreases eta = 2.0 times, whereas the readings of the ammeter increase the same number of times, Find teh voltmeter readings after the connection of the resistance.

An ammeter of zero resistance and a volt meter are connected in series to a battery of emf 6.0 volt and certain internal resistance. When a resistance R is connected in parallel with the voltmeter the readings of the voltmeter becomes half of its initial reading and the reading of the ammeter becomes 2 times to its initial reading (before R is connected).
