The dispersive powers of crown and flint...

The dispersive powers of crown and flint glasses are `0.03` and `0.05` respectively. The refractive indices for yellow light for these glasses are `1.517` and `1.621` respectively. It is desired to form an achromatic combination of prism of crown and flint glasses which can produce a deviation of `1^@` in the yellow ray. Find the refracting angles of the two prisms needed.

Crown glass: `omega=0.03`, `mu_y=1.517`
Flint glass: `omega^'=0.05`, `mu_y^'=1.621`
For no dispersion:
`(mu_v-mu_r)A=(mu_v^'-mu_r^')A^'`
`omega(mu_y-1)A=omega^'(mu_y^'-1)A^'`
`[omega=(mu_v-mu_r)/(mu_y-1)`, `omega^'=(mu_v^'-mu_r^')/(mu_y^'-1)]'`
`0.03(1.517-1)A=0.05(1.621-1)A^'`
Deviation
`delta_0=|(mu_y-1)A-(mu_y^'-1)A^'|`
`1=|(1.517-1)A-(1.621-1)A^'|`
`=|0.517A-0.621A^'|=|0.517xx2A^'-0.621A^'|`
`1=0.413A^'impliesA^'=2.42^@`
`A=2A^'=4.84^@`

It is given that the aispersive powers of crown and flint glasses are 0.06 and 0.10 respectively. Also the refractive indices for yellow light for these glasses are 1.517 and 1.621, respectively. We have to form an achromatic combination of prism of crown and flint glasses which can produce a deviation of 1^(@) in the yellow ray. Evaluate the refracting angles of the two prisms needed.

A deviation of 2^(@) is produced in the yellow ray when prism of crown and flint glass are achromatically combined. Taking dispersive powers of crown and flint glass as 0.02 and 0.03 respectively and refractive index for yellow light for these glasses are 1.5 and 1.6 respectively. The refracting angles for crown glass prism will be ........ @ (in degree). (Round off to the Nearest Integer)

The dispersive powers of flint glass and crown glass are 0.053 and 0.034 respectively and their mean refractive indices are 1.68 and 1.53 for white light .Calculate the angle of the flint glass prism required to form an achromatic combination with a crown glass prism of refracting anlge 4^@ .

The dispersive powers of crown and flint glasses are 0.02 and 0.04 respectively. In an achromatic combination of lenses the focal length of flint glass lens is 40 cm . The focal length of crown glass lens will be

The dispersive powers of crown and flint glasses are 0.03 and 0.05, respectively. If the difference between the refractive indices for red and blue is 0.014 crown glass and 0.023 for flint glass, calculate the angle of a flint glass prism which would produce a net deviation of 5^(@) with a crown glass prism of 3^(@) . [ Hint: Net deviation = (mu -1) A+(mu'-1)A' ]
