Figures shown electric field lines in which as electric dipole `vec(p)` is placed as shown .Which of the following statement is correct?

A

The dipole will not experience any force

B

The dipole will experience a force towards right

C

The dipole will experience a force towards left

D

the dipole will experience a force upward

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

The electic field lines represent a non-uniform electric field since the spacing between line is greater on right so the electric field is more strong at left than that at right. Hence the force on negative charge wil be more and towards left.So the dipole will experience a force towards left.
