Assertion : Atria act as primer pumps that increase the ventricular pumping
Reason : About 80 precent of the blood flows directly through the atria into ventricles.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion

C

If assertion is true but reason is false

D

If both assertion and reason are false

The correct Answer is:
A

Blood normally flows continually from the great veins into the aria , about `80` percent of the blood flows directly through the atria into the ventricles even before the atria contract. Then atrial contraction usually causes an additional `20` percent filling of the ventricles. Therefore, the atria simply function as primer pumps that incerase the vertricular pumping effectiveness as much as `20` percent.

During cardiac cycle each ventricle pumps out about 70 ml of blood which is called

Assertion : Cardiac output is the volume of blood pumped out by each ventricle per minute. Reason : Ther cardiac output of an athlete will be much higher than that of an ordinary man.

Assertion : Neutral signals through sympathetic nerves can increase the strength of ventricular contraction Reason : Parasympathetic neutral signals synergistically act with sympathetic neutral signal to increase the cardiac output.

Assertion (A) : Left ventricle of heart has a thinner wall than that of the right ventricle . Reason (R ) : Right ventricle pump blood to nearby lungs .

Assertion : In amphibians incomplete double circulation presents. Reason : In amphibians oxygenated and deoxygenated blood get mixed up in the single ventricle which pumps out mixed blood.

Assertion Arteries possess smooth muslces on their walls. Reason These smooth muscles help in regulating blood volume flowing through a tissue of organ.

Assertion: The valves of the heart (i.e., semilunar and atrio-ventricular valves) prevent any backward flow. Reason: The valves in the heart allows the flow of blood only in one direction, i.e. from the atria to the ventricles and from ventricles to the pulmonary artery or aorta.

Assertion Left ventricle of heart has a thinner wall than that of right ventricle. Reason Left ventricle eeds to pump blood to nearby lungs only.
