Dinesh is a student of 10th standard. He went to a remote area of Rajasthan for trekking with his friends. Dinesh found that it was a sparsely inhabited area. He was surprised to know that there was still no electricity in this area. The children also had to study with kerosene lamps at night. The village farmers used diesel to run irrigation pumps. Actually, there were no power transmission lines which could bring electricity to this remote area. Dinesh was really disturbed by the living conditions of the people in this part of Rajasthan. One day Dinesh gathered all the people of village in the village school. He told them that if they put pressure on their area MLAs and MP for making available the required funds, then he could tell them about the devices to light up their homes and streets at night, play radio and television and also run irrigation pumps with electricity without there being power transmission lines. All the people agreed and Dinesh described them the devices to get electricity in their area in detail. The village people were very happy to know this and soon they got electricity in their area. (a) What was the device described by Dinesh to the village people to obtain electricity locally ? (b) What source of energy is made use of in this device to obtain electricity ? (c) Why do you think this device is more appropriate for an area like Rajasthan ? (d) What is the name of the single unit of this device ? What values are shown by Dinesh in this incident ?

A houeshold uses the following electric appliances : (a) Refrigerator of rating 400 W for ten hours each day. (b) Two electric fans of rating 80 W each for twelve hours each day. (c ) Six electric tubes of rating 18 W each for 6 hours each day. Calculate the electricity bill of the household for the month of the june if the cost per unit of electric energy is ₹ 3.00 .

Faraday Cage: A Faraday cage or Faraday shield is an enclosure made of a conducting material. The fields within a conductor cancel out with any external fields, so the electric field within the enclosure is zero. These Faraday cages act as big hollow conductors you can put things in to shield them from electrical fields. Any electrical shocks the cage receives, pass harmlessly around the outside of the cage. What is the electrical force inside a Faraday cage when it is struck by lightning?

Take any electricity bill of your home. In the bill there is one table which shows the units consumed by you for the last eleven months. Find the average consumption of electricity in your home for each season (i.e., summer, winter and rainy season). Are they the same? Why?

An infinitely large layer of charge of uniform thickness t is placed normal to an existing uniform electric field. The charge on the sheet alters the electric field so that it still remains uniform on both the sides of the sheet and assumes values E_1 and E_2 as shown in figure. The charge distribution in the layer is not uniform and depends only on the distance from its faces. Find the expressions for the force F per unit experienced by the charge layer.

A factory owner took a fire insurance policy for his factory without informing the insurance company that he received notice from electricity department to get the wiriing of the factory repaired. After six mounts of taking policy the factory caught fire due to faulty wiring . Will the factory owner get compensation for the loss due to fire? which principle of insurance is related with this case ? Explain that principle .

A charge distribution generates a radial electrif field vecE=(a)/(r^(2))e^(-(r)/(k))hatr , where r is distance from the origin hatr is a unit vector in radial direction away from the origini and a and k are positive constants. The electric field extends around the origin up to a large distance. (a). Find the charge (q_(0)) that must be located at the origin to create such a field (b). Find the quantity of charge (q) that must be spread around the charge q_(0) at origin to create such a field.
