Equal heat is given to two objects ...

Equal heat is given to two objects A and B of mass 1g. Temperature of A increases by `3^(@)C` and B by `5^(@)C` . Which object has more specific heat and by what factor ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
This implies object A has more specific heat than object B by factor of `5/3`

Heat absorbed by object `A(Q_A) =m_A c_A Delta T_A`
Heat absorbed by object `B(Q_B)= m_B c_B Delta T_B`
Given `Q_A = Q_B " and "m_A=m_B =1 g.`
Also, `DeltaT_A = 3^@C " and "Delta T_B= 5^QC`
`therefore c_A Delta T_A = c_B Delta T_B`
`therefore 3c_A = 5c_B`
` therefore c_A = 5/3 c_B`
