The figure shows a part of the circuit in the steady state. The currents, the valuces of resistances and emfs of the cells are shown in the figure. The circuit also contains a capacitor of capacitance `C=muF.` The value of `i_(1)` is-

A

1A, 2A, 3A

B

3A, 2A, 1A

C

2A, 1A,3A

D

3A, 1A, 2A

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

No current will pass through the branch AB, as it contains a capacitance C. Applying Kirchhoff's first law, the currents `i_(1),I_(2),i_(3)` are given by
`i_(1)=2+1-3` A at the junction A
At the junction `B, i_(2)+1=2 therefore i_(2)=1 A`
At D, `i_(1)= i_(2)+i_(3) therefore 3 =1 +i_(3) therefore i_(3)=2A`
