Time taken by a 836 W heater to heat one litre of water from `10^@C to 40^@C` is

A

100 s

B

150 s

C

200 s

D

50 s

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

If t is the time, the electrical energy supplied by the heater `=Pxx t =836xxt`
This is used to increase the temperature of water.
Heat required = `msd theta`.
`=1000xx1xx(40-10)=30,000` cal
`= 30,000xx4.18 J`
`therefore 836xxt = 30,000xx4.18`
`therefore t= (30,000xx4.18)/(836)=(418xx300)/(836)=150s`
